3Commas is a dashboard for people who will build the bot themselves. CryptoBud picks a style, shows a preview, and gives you a box.

  • To set up a bot, 3Commas says you decide the bot type, link an exchange with limited permissions, then configure the trading rules.3

3Commas Demo is a simulator. CryptoBud paper trading is the same bot you will take live.

  • Demo “mimics real market conditions using live Binance Spot price data.” Orders execute inside 3Commas — they never reach the exchange.1
  • No order-book simulation. Market orders fill as if liquidity is unlimited. Simulated fee is 0.1% per order.1
  • “Demo trading is available on all paid plans.” Real trading is prioritized when the system is busy — demo can delay or interrupt.2

Both products keep coins on the exchange. 3Commas still holds the API key.

  • Sign Center is isolated key storage. When 3Commas trades, its servers ask Sign Center to sign — “similar to how Metamask or Ledger signs a transaction.”5
  • IP whitelist is for “official 3Commas IP addresses.” The key only works from their cloud, not from a machine that is yours.5

  • Demo is a 3Commas account with virtual funds.1

CryptoBud MCP is the same bot on your box. 3Commas does not ship MCP. They give you a REST API, Telegram commands, and an in-app chat that writes DCA bots.

  • Official surface for apps and scripts is the 3Commas REST API: DCA bots, grid bots, SmartTrade, accounts. You create an API key and call HTTP. That is not MCP.6
  • The official Telegram bot can /start_bot, /stop_bot, /my_bots, /my_stats. Commands from a phone chat, not from Grok, ChatGPT, or Claude.7
  • AI Assistant (Gemini) lives in the 3Commas UI. It creates and backtests DCA bots. It cannot manage existing bots, and it does not create Grid or SmartTrade.8
  • A community GitHub project wraps the REST API as MCP. It is not a 3Commas product. Default is read-only. You paste your 3Commas API key into the client.10
