CryptoBud vs Cryptohopper

Cryptohopper alternative

Cryptohopper is a cloud hopper: marketplace, copy trading, strategy designer. Paper trading exists — as a second hopper you get with a paid plan or trial, running next to the live one. Live still means paste API keys and whitelist Cryptohopper IPs. CryptoBud is one bot on a box that is yours, paper first.

How you get started

Cryptohopper is a hopper you configure. CryptoBud picks a style, shows a preview, and gives you a box.

  • Homepage pitch: “the world’s most customizable crypto trading bot” — connect exchanges, copy traders, or run their trading A.I.3
  • Marketplace sells strategies and signals you attach to a hopper. You still set the bot up.4,3
  • iOS app exists — Cryptohopper - Crypto Trading, 4.4 stars from 830 ratings when we checked.6

Paper trading

Cryptohopper’s simulator is a second hopper. CryptoBud paper trading is the same bot you will take live.

  • “With every subscription, you can build one “real” bot and one simulator. While your real bot runs, you can test strategies on your simulator.”1
  • No exchange account for the simulator — it uses Cryptohopper’s market data. The wizard auto-deposits virtual funds.1
  • Docs: every paid subscription includes one paper-trading bot. Extra paper accounts are a separate purchase. Pioneer (free) is not that paid hopper.2,7

Where keys live

Both products keep coins on the exchange. Cryptohopper still holds the API key.

  • Help center: “When you whitelist Cryptohopper’s IP addresses on your exchange, only Cryptohopper’s servers can execute trades through your API key.” Mandatory for almost all exchanges.5
  • You paste the key into Cryptohopper. The trusted IPs are their cloud, not a machine that is yours.5

Does practice match live?

They let you convert a paper hopper by turning paper off and connecting an exchange. That is still their simulator, then their live cloud — not one bot on your box.

  • FAQ: convert paper to live in Base config → Exchange, disable the paper toggle, connect API keys. Settings transfer.1
  • Paper trading “works entirely within Cryptohopper using real-time market data.” Orders do not hit your Binance account until you connect keys.1

What it costs

Cryptohopper sells hopper tiers. Paper trading is bundled with a paid plan or trial. CryptoBud is a flat weekly subscription for the private box.

  • Pricing page (yearly, excluding VAT): Explorer $24.16/month, Adventurer $57.50, Hero $107.50. “Free 3 day trial for Explorer package starts directly with each sign up.”7
  • Hero adds A.I. strategies and the A.I. designer. Copy Bot is a separate $9.99–$99.99/month product.7
  • CryptoBud is $5/week in the iOS app ($20/month, $220/year). Flat — no fee on your trades, no cut of profits.

Who should pick which

Cryptohopper. Someone who wants a dashboard across many exchanges, will buy or copy a marketplace strategy, and is fine storing trade keys on Cryptohopper’s servers.

CryptoBud. Someone who wants to see which coins the bot would trade for their budget, get a private cloud box, and start with paper trading — not configure a hopper.

Common questions

  • It is a real Dutch company with an iOS app and a long-running cloud hopper. Legit is not the same as “keys stay with you.” Cryptohopper stores API keys and you whitelist their IPs. CryptoBud keeps keys on your private cloud box.
