How do I add CryptoBud MCP to Claude and Grok?

Bud connects to any MCP client via Streamable HTTP on your Bud Box. Ask questions using Grok Bot, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code, and Codex using your own agents.

Long press the box tab → Manage access → Share access. Copy Hostname (yourname.bud.trading) and the new Relay password. Pick demo (paper) or live (this box's live venue). Anyone with the hostname and a Take actions password can trade as you. How do I create a relay password? →. Terms of Use →

Grok, Grok Bot, ChatGPT, and Claude Desktop only have a URL box. They cannot take the password as a separate field. Paste host, password, and mode on cryptobud.app/mcp.

Grok, Grok Bot, and ChatGPT: click that client, then Copy. Paste that URL.

Claude Desktop: click Claude Desktop. Name and URL fill in. Check them, then Continue.

Cursor: click Add to Cursor.

VS Code, Claude Code, and Codex: click that client, then Copy.

Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code, and Codex take the address and the password separately. Use:

https://yourname.bud.trading/mcp?mode=demo

Swap yourname and demo / live. Put the relay password in the auth field those apps give you.

Same Grok connectors page for Grok and Grok Bot.

  1. Open grok.com/connectors(opens in a new tab)
  2. New Connector, then Custom
  3. Name: CryptoBud
  4. Server URL: paste the Copied URL
  5. Save

Turn CryptoBud on in that Grok or Grok Bot chat. Add it once. Use it in both.

Same kind of form as Grok: Name and URL only. No headers. The difference is 1-click actually fills the form.

  1. Click Claude Desktop on the setup page
  2. Claude opens Add custom connector. Name is CryptoBud. URL is already filled. A warning that an external link suggested this is normal
  3. Check Name and URL, then Continue
  4. Add or Connect if it asks
  5. In a chat, tap + → Connectors and enable CryptoBud

Adding by hand: claude.ai/customize/connectors(opens in a new tab), or in the app Customize → Connectors.

  1. Add a custom connector.
  2. Name: CryptoBud. Or whatever you want.
  3. URL: paste the Copied URL.
  4. Continue.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector first. Then you Connect.

ChatGPT MCP is a plugin. It stays hidden until Development mode is on.

  1. Settings → Security & login → turn on Development mode
  2. Open chatgpt.com/plugins(opens in a new tab). No plus button means Development mode is off
  3. Click plus
  4. Name: CryptoBud
  5. Connection URL: paste the Copied URL. Do not pick Tunnel
  6. Authentication: No Auth
  7. Create, wait for the scan, confirm you see bud
  8. Start a new chat and turn the plugin on from the plus / tools menu

In Cursor: Customize → MCPs, or put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (your current project). Swap the host, mode, and password.

{
	"mcpServers": {
		"cryptobud": {
			"url": "https://yourname.bud.trading/mcp?mode=demo",
			"headers": {
				"Authorization": "Bearer RELAY_PASSWORD"
			}
		}
	}
}

Refresh MCP in Cursor settings. Do not commit the password.

Command palette: MCP: Add Server, or MCP: Open User Configuration. Workspace file is .vscode/mcp.json. VS Code uses servers, not Cursor’s mcpServers.

{
	"servers": {
		"cryptobud": {
			"type": "http",
			"url": "https://yourname.bud.trading/mcp?mode=demo",
			"headers": {
				"Authorization": "Bearer RELAY_PASSWORD"
			}
		}
	}
}

In a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user cryptobud https://yourname.bud.trading/mcp?mode=demo --header 'Authorization: Bearer RELAY_PASSWORD'

Check with claude mcp list. In a session, /mcp shows if it is on.

Codex reads the password from your terminal. Set it, then add:

Terminal
export CRYPTOBUD_RELAY_PASSWORD='RELAY_PASSWORD'
codex mcp add cryptobud --url 'https://yourname.bud.trading/mcp?mode=demo' --bearer-token-env-var CRYPTOBUD_RELAY_PASSWORD

Launch Codex from that same terminal.

Ask how the bot is doing, or ask for a report. One tool: bud.

What Bud Intelligence can do →

Turn CryptoBud on in that chat. Saved is not the same as on.

  • No plus in ChatGPT: Development mode is off.
  • Grok, ChatGPT, or a hand-added Claude connector fails: you typed a URL instead of Copy.
  • Claude Desktop 1-click fail: close the form and click Claude Desktop again.
  • Cursor / VS Code / Claude Code / Codex fail: wrong password, or you dropped the word Bearer.
  • Codex fail: the password was not set in that terminal.

You can leave it on. It will not eat the chat.

Other MCP servers dump a long list of tools into every message. That is what fills a context window. CryptoBud is one tool: bud. A few words of setup, then silence until you ask.

When you ask how the bot is doing, the box sends a short answer. Your whole book is not pasted in. MCP tokens barely move. Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, and Cursor keep room for the conversation.

Ask for a report, a forecast, or a change. Same pattern. Short in, short out.

Grok Bot has a remote computer. Sign into X there. Grok Bot takes control and reads $ETH and your other pairs. On X, that $ticker search is a cashtag. How do I use Grok Bot with X cashtags? →
